Step 3 - Removal and Install
- If you are doing a Liqui Moly Engine Flush - this is a perfect time to add that to the motor and start the motor to begin the engine flush. Let the car idle with the engine flush additive for 10 minutes.
- With the oil package you bought, ideally you want to raise the front of the car onto jack stands to allow undercarriage service. Use a jack and two jack stands to safely get the height needed to get underneath the motor.
- Remove the under tray using 10mm socket and a clip removal tool or flat head screw driver.
- Best to remove the oil filter first. Oil will spill out during the removal so make sure the drop pan is below.
- You can now install the new filter. Best to coat the o-ring on the filter with oil to allow the o-ring to not dry/crack and seal properly.
- Using a 17mm socket or wrench, you can loosen and remove the oil drain plug located on the oil pan
- Drain the oil from the pan into the drop pan, during this time inspect and or replace the oil drain bolt gasket. Some replace every oil change but they can be re-used if not crushed and show signs of deformation.
- Re-install the drain plug (or install a new magnetic drain plug for that added protection)
- Remove the dip stick and clean to prepare for oil level check
- Add the Liqui Moly oil you purchased. If you are using an additive like Liqui Moly MOS2 or Ceratec, recommended to add that bottle first. The Hyundai N motors take just about 5 litres on a change with filter change.
- Check the oil level with the dip stick. Ideally - target the level to be at FULL. If you are tracking the car, we highly recommend filling at the FULL mark. It is okay if the oil level is slightly higher than the full mark as when you start the car, oil will fill the oil filter and areas in the motor. We like to check the oil when the motor is warm to get the most protection when tracking the car.
- Start the car and idle it while checking for any leaks.
- Stop the motor and re-install the undertray and then lower the car back on the ground
- Start and Idle the motor again for 1-2 minutes. Then stop the motor and check oil level once again to ensure a proper level.
Step 4 - Reset the Oil Service Indication
